Chrome Extension Privacy Policy
Single purpose: tailor your CV to a LinkedIn job · No tracking · No selling
The ResumeLens Chrome extension ("the extension") has a single purpose: when you are viewing a job posting on LinkedIn and click the extension button, it reads that job's title, company, and description, then opens the ResumeLens web app pre-filled with that job so you can tailor your CV.
Only when you click the extension button on a LinkedIn job page, the extension reads the following from that page:
- The job title
- The company name
- The job description text
- The current page URL (used only to confirm it is a LinkedIn job page)
It reads nothing else, and it does nothing in the background. There is no monitoring, no automatic scraping, and no activity unless you click the button.
When you click the button:
- The job details are read from the page in your browser.
- A new tab opens to the ResumeLens web app, with the job details encoded in the URL hash fragment (the part after #).
- Browsers do not transmit the hash fragment to servers, so the job description is delivered to the web app entirely client-side.
- From there, the existing ResumeLens web app (covered by our main Privacy Policy) handles tailoring, using your existing logged-in session.
- We do not sell your data. Ever.
- We do not track your browsing or build a profile of you.
- The extension contains no analytics, advertising, or tracking code.
- The extension does not store the job data; it passes it to the web app and discards it.
- The extension does not read any site other than LinkedIn job pages.
- The extension does not run in the background or without your click.
The extension requests the minimum permissions needed for its single purpose:
activeTab
Lets the extension read the LinkedIn job page you are currently viewing — only at the moment you click the extension button. It has no access to any other tab and no standing access between clicks.
scripting
Used to run a small script in the active LinkedIn tab that extracts the job title, company, and description text when you click the button.
Host access: www.linkedin.com
The extension only operates on LinkedIn job pages. It cannot read any other website.
The extension itself shares data with no third parties. Once you land in the ResumeLens web app and choose to tailor your CV, the web app may use the sub-processors described in our main Privacy Policy (for example, AI inference and hosting). The extension is only a shortcut into that existing, consent-based flow.
Because the extension does not store your data, there is nothing for it to delete. Any data processed by the ResumeLens web app is subject to the rights described in our main Privacy Policy under UK GDPR, including access, rectification, and erasure. To exercise these rights, contact privacy@resumelens.ai.
We may update this policy as the extension evolves (for example, if we add support for more job sites). When we do, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be reflected in the extension's Chrome Web Store listing.
