ResumeLens

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Open a job on LinkedIn

Browse as you normally would. The extension does nothing until you ask it to.

  2. Step 2

    Click the ResumeLens icon

It reads the job title, the company and the description from the page in front of you — the part you would otherwise select, copy and paste by hand.

  3. Step 3

Land in the tailoring page, already filled in

ResumeLens opens with the job details in place. Pick the resume to start from, and your tailored version is a click away.

What the extension reads — and what it does not

A browser extension that touches your job search should be easy to reason about. This one has a single purpose, and it acts only when you click its button on a LinkedIn job page.

It reads

  • The job title, company name and description text of the posting you are viewing.
  • The address of the page, used only to confirm it is a LinkedIn job posting.

It does not

  • Read any website other than LinkedIn job pages.
  • Run in the background, monitor your browsing or scrape anything automatically.
  • Track you or sell data.
  • Ask for a separate account or password.

The job details are read in your browser and handed to the ResumeLens web app in the part of the link after the # symbol. Browsers do not send that part of an address to a server when they load a page, so the description is not written into web server logs on its way over. The full detail, permission by permission, is in the extension privacy policy.

Why tailor for every job

Two postings with the same job title rarely ask for the same things. One leads with stakeholder management, the other with a specific toolset; a resume written for the first reads as a near miss for the second. Rewriting your resume around each posting is the highest-leverage habit in a job search — and the one most people drop, because doing it by hand for every application is slow and tedious.

The extension removes the slowest step: getting the job description out of LinkedIn and into the tool. The rewriting itself happens in ResumeLens, where every result is saved as a new version, so your master resume is never overwritten. Read more about how AI resume tailoring works.

Questions

Do I need a paid plan to use the extension?

No — it works with your free or Pro account; it just reuses your existing login.

Which job sites does it work on?

LinkedIn job postings today — hit the ResumeLens icon on any listing and it pulls the description in for you.

Does the extension need its own login?

No — it reuses your existing ResumeLens session via a deep link into the web app; there's no separate extension account.

Does it read pages in the background?

No. It reads the LinkedIn job page you are viewing only at the moment you click the extension button. It has no access to other tabs and does nothing between clicks.

Does tailoring from the extension count towards my plan?

Yes — a resume tailored from LinkedIn is the same as one tailored in the web app: 5 a month on the free plan, unlimited on Pro.

Will it overwrite my resume?

Never. Every tailored result is saved as a new version, so your master resume stays exactly as it was.
